about

Originally released on Vault Records in 1967, Tanyet was the brainchild of top session musician/producer Mike Deasy under the alias of Lybuk Hyd. The Ceyleib People, or more correctly Celeb People, were a studio band put together by Deasy that created a psychedelic blend of Indian and Western music which was a truly unique sound for 1967. Besides Deasy, the band included Deasy's 6-year old son Michael "Sean" Deasy beating a drum and making vocal sounds; Joe Osborn on bass and as recording engineer; Larry Knechtel on bass and keyboards; Jim Gordon on drums; Ben Benay on sitar; Mike Melvoin on keyboards, and Jim Horn on woodwinds; all L.A. studio regulars who would play on countless hit albums over the years as members of The Wrecking Crew, including those of the Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson, and thousands of others. This album also introduced a new face to the L.A. studio scene, Ry Cooder on guitar. Tanyet was conceived, composed, and performed by Mike Deasy with the help of his studio friends and is now once again available on Deasy's Saltmine Records.

Tanyet is performed in two suites:
